EL COMIENZO DE GILEAD - (The Beginning of Gilead)
2001 chestnut stallion (EDR Ovacion x Sum Esperanza by Sum Number)
Classical Spanish sire of eleven foals, seven colts and four fillies. El Comienzo has a beautiful typy head with large eyes that can steal your heart and a beautiful copper chestnut coat that absolutely shimmers. He has a wonderful calm disposition and passes this on to his progeny. His bloodlines have blended very well with those of our mares resulting in some beautiful and very loving foals. El Comienzo has sired both grey and bay foals in addition to chestnut. Every visitor who has come to our farm has been amazed at how friendly all of our horses are. The compliment we hear the most is "I had no idea Arabians were so easy to be around." This comment alone speaks very well of the Spanish bloodlines. El Comienzo is very proud of his growing herd. PALOMA DE ESPANA - (Dove of Spain)
1988 grey mare (*Halifa x *Kaba by Jaque)
Classical Spanish dam of four foals bred by Gilead Arabians: Confianza (2000) and Reluciente (2002), both by LC El Bendito (a Classical Spanish stallion), and Valiente (2004) and Viajero (2005), both by El Comienzo de Gilead. Paloma is the matriarch of our herd and conducts herself accordingly. She carries herself with elegance and has big, beautiful soulful eyes. NOT FOR SALE.

HELENA DEL MAR - (Helen of the Sea)
1990 gray mare (*Halifa x *Charanga by Shazon)
Spanish-related with one line to Crabbet, she has produced two Spanish-related 7/8 ths foals: GAF Espejisma (2000) and GAF Compadre (2005). GAF Espejisma has bred on and produced two Spanish-related 15/16 foals: GAF Azucena (2004) and GAF Siesta (2005), both by El Comienzo de Gilead. Helena and her produce all have personality plus and sweet dispositions. Helena was our first Spanish Arabian and is our mount of choice for novice riders and young children. She is a wonderful trail horse and has never refused any task requested of her. NOT FOR SALE.

SOLANA DE LAROSA - (Sunshine on the Roses)
1988 chestnut mare (Valeroso x Kocamine by El Intenso Leon)
Spanish-related, Solana is 5/8 Classical Spanish and 3/8 Egyptian and dam of three 13/16 Spanish-related foals bred by Gilead Arabians: GAF La Bendicion (2003) by LC El Bendito (a Classical Spanish stallion) and GAF Solicito (2004), and GAF Salida del Sol (2005), both by El Comienzo de Gilead. Solana has wonderful movement and carriage, and is a very good mount as well as being a wonderful broodmare. PRIVATE TREATY

FOALS SIRED BY L C EL BENDITO

LC El Bendito is a gray Classical Spanish stallion owned by Larry Martinez of Port Barre, LA. El Bendito is out of Lac-Milalita by *Kabull, who is by Palma Real. El Bendito is a beautiful gray stallion with excellent confirmation and fluid movement.

FOALS SIRED BY EL COMIENZOI DE GILEAD

El Comienzo is a chestnut Classical Spanish stallion owned by Gilead Arabians. He is our founding sire, thus the name, which means "The Beginning." He is out of Sum Esperanza (bred by Betty Schumacher of California) by EDR Ovacion, endurance stallion owned by Penni Collins of Montana.

GAF CONFIANZA - (Trust)
2000 gray mare (El Comienzo de Gilead x Paloma de Espana by *Halifa)
"Faith" is our firstborn here at Gilead, is Classical Spanish, and has produced two Classical Spanish foals: GAF Margarita (2004) and GAF Patriota (2005). She has those smooth Spanish lines and is a wonderful broodmare in combination with El Comienzo. Her first foal, Margarita, will join our broodmare band, while her colt, Patriota, is destined to be a wonderful companion. He has a sense of humor that will not quit and a look on his face that says "Did I do that?" Faith will remain at Gilead as part of our broodmare band. NOT FOR SALE

GAF ESPEJISMA - (Mirage)
2000 gray mare (El Comienzo de Gilead x Helena del Mar by *Halifa)
"Mirage" is our second born foal here at Gilead, is 7/8 Spanish related, and is a tall stately mare with a very kind eye. She has produced two 15/16 Spanish-related foals: GAF Azucena (2004) and GAF Siesta (2005), both by El Comienzo de Gilead. These fillies are both very athletic and were the first sold out of their respective foal crops. PRIVATE TREATY

GAF RELUCIENTE - (Shimmering Light)
2002 gray mare (LC El Bendito x Paloma de Espana by *Halifa)
"Luci" is Classical Spanish and is most definitely our poster girl. She is tall with beautifully balanced confirmation. Luci has not yet been bred, but I am confident she will produce some fantastic foals. She will remain at Gilead as part of our broodmare band. NOT FOR SALE

GAF LA BENEDICION - (Blessing)
2003 chestnut mare (LC El Bendito x Solana de Larosa by Valeroso)
"Bendita" is 13/16 Spanish related. She is quiet and loving with a sweet disposition. She loves attention and has been started under saddle. Bendita has lots of style and fluid movement. This young lady is “put together right” and is ripe for picking. PRIVATE TREATY

GAF AZUCENA - (Lily)
2004 gray mare (El Comienzo de Gilead x GAF Espejisma by LC El Bendito)
"Lily" with a capital "L" is 15/16 Spanish related and was head of our hospitality committee before she was sold. Never meeting a stranger, she was the first to welcome visitors. Lily literally sold herself to Jo Etta Bourgoyne and has made her home in Jonesville, Louisiana. SOLD!

GAF COMPADRE - (Companion)
2005 bay gelding (El Comienzo de Gilead x Helena del Mar by *Halifa)
"Padre" is 7/8 Spanish related and is tall, dark, and handsome. Stunning dark soul-searching eyes and a very definite "I am somebody" presence, make this a truly special colt. He has made his home in West Monroe, LA, with a lifelong friend of mine, Gail Hamby, and her 16 year old granddaughter, Rachel. Padre and Rachel have already become soul mates and are destined to make a statement wherever they go. SOLD!

GAF MARGARITA - (Daisy)

"Maggie" is Classical Spanish and has been featured in many of our advertisements, having a beautiful head and that smooth Spanish body. A sweet young mare with lots of flair, Maggie will be looking for a suitor of her own soon. She will be remaining here at Gilead as part of our broodmare band. GAF PATRIOTA - (Patriot)
2005 chestnut gelding (El Comienzo de Gilead x GAF Confianza by LC El Bendito)
"Patriot" is Classical Spanish with a flaxen mane and tail and has a curious, playful personality. Born on the 4th of July, he is quite a firecracker. You can see his wheels turning. Patriot is smart, quick, and eager to learn. He is an eye-catcher with a stunningly beautiful face and neck and all our visitors love him. PRIVATE TREATY

GAF SALIDA DEL SOL
2005 chestnut mare (El Comienzo de Gilead x Solana de Larosa by Valeroso)
"Salida" is 13/16 Spanish related and is a very flashy young mare with a beautiful face, long elegant neck, and movement to match. A little shy, but a terrible flirt - she loves to show off. She will make a very good show prospect. She comes by her carriage honestly, her dam is a beautiful mover also. Double Jarilla on the sire’s side coupled with Valeroso on the dam’s side. GAF SIESTA - (Afternoon Nap)
2005 grey mare (El Comienzo de Gilead x GAF Espejisma by LC El Bendito)
Siesta, born in mid-afternoon, is 15/16 Spanish related with sports horse confirmation and attitude. Perky and full of life, she doesn't miss a thing. Having made her home with Kay Pittenger and Bill Edwards in Kansas, she will be practicing for the trail and working cow horse competitions as part of her every day life on their cattle ranch. I am sure she will be up for the challenge. SOLD!

"Thibodeaux" is 13/16 Spanish related and is a dead ringer for his sire. He is very watchful, learns quickly, and is very well mannered. Intelligent, kind eyes coupled with a beautiful star gives him a face no girl could resist. Tibby has made his home with Billy and Jo Lynn Hamby in Calhoun, Louisiana. Jo Lynn has her sights set on jumping and has picked a perfect companion for this endeavor in this young gelding. SOLD!

GAF VALIENTE - (Courageous)
2004 chestnut gelding (El Comienzo de Gilead x Paloma de Espana by *Halifa)
"Boudreaux" is Classical Spanish and is another beautiful example of a short dishy head coupled with a smooth Spanish body. He has a quiet confident air about him. His beautiful chestnut coat with flaxen mane and tail is sure to stand out in any crowd. Boudreaux has joined his brothers, Solicito and Compadre, in Calhoun, LA, with Billy and JoLynn Hamby. Billy lost his heart to this one the first time they met. SOLD!

GAF VIAJERO - (Traveller)
2005 chestnut gelding (El Comienzo de Gilead x Paloma de Espana by *Halifa)
"Traveller" is Classical Spanish with a quiet personality. He practically crawled into my husband's lap right after he was born, and they have been bonded ever since. A studious young colt, this one watches everything. He has a confident, quiet nature along with a beautiful head and body, smooth and sleek, everything fits together very well. PRIVATE TREATY

GAF ZALAMARO - (Debonair)
2005 bay gelding (El Comienzo de Gilead x HB Miss Besson Bey by Besson Carol)
"Zaly" is 1/2 Spanish related and his name suits him perfectly, he is tall, debonair, and knows he comes from special bloodlines. With double Jarilla on the sire side and *Ali Jamaal and Huckleberry Bey on the mare side, he has the potential to be a show stopper. He is very intelligent with a quiet regal air. Zaly has been trained by John Harter, professional equine artist, of Natchez and will remain at Gilead as John’s soul mate. NOT FOR SALE

GAF RESPLANDOR - (Resplendent)
"Rowdy" is Classical Spanish with a playful personality. He has a beautiful face and short dishy head with a long beautiful neck. His smooth, well coupled body, so typical of the Spanish bloodlines, along with his willingness to learn, makes this a very special young colt. Rowdy has been sold to a very special young family, Matthew and Valerie Langer, and their son, Geronimo. Valerie has done equine training in California and will have no problem teaching Rowdy and Geronimo everything they need to know. He will board here at Gilead. SOLD!
